Strength Training Is Beneficial For All Mothers

As a mother, your life is never done. But it’s important to prioritize your health and wellbeing.

Regular exercise and staying active will help you deal with the physical and mental demands of motherhood.

It is important to stay fit, strong aand healthy.

Here are five of the best reasons to lift weights as a mother.

1. Exercises that increase resistance will make daily tasks easier

You will become stronger by doing resistance training [1]. Also, you will build stronger bones. Your body will also be stronger to deal with the challenges that come along with being a mom, like carrying children, putting them in and out strollers, cars and carrying bags of groceries and heavy laundry.

Resistance training also improves body awareness and coordination [3]. You can avoid injury by learning how to move more efficiently. For example, lifting your lower back with your legs rather than your legs and engaging your core.

2. You can still achieve your goals by using smart training.

It can be difficult to find time to exercise in between your other responsibilities. Hours of cardio will not be efficient nor will it get you the desired results. On average, our clients resistance train 45-60 minutes three times per week. Smart resistance training will get you results in the shortest time.

No need to exercise to get the body you want. Most women will say that they want to be ‘firmer or more toned’ when asked about their goals. Strength training helps the body retain muscle mass and burn fat for a more toned, lean look.

3. Weight lifting helps reduce stress

A family can be a great joy, but also a lot of stress. You can be your best self by managing your stress. Mums can improve their resilience and fight stress by doing resistance training.

4. Take care of yourself as an example

Staying physically fit and active sets an excellent example for your kids. WHO (World Health Organisation) estimates that 39 million children aged under 5 will be overweight or obese by 2020, and 340 million adolescents and children aged 5-19 years old in 2016.

The CDC (Center for Disease Control), states that social factors, such as the parents’ lifestyles and fitness, have a significant impact on their children’s wellbeing. Your children will be more likely to emulate you if they see that you eat well, exercise, and are strong and healthy. What could be better for a parent than seeing their children happy, active and healthy?

5. By taking care of yourself, you will be able to take care of your children.

Resistance training can help you maintain a healthy body composition and reduce your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood sugar, etc. Overweight can reduce life expectancy up to 10 years.

You can be there for your children if you stay healthy. You can be with them in difficult times and special occasions. You can do the work for others if you are not doing it for yourself.
